Introducing Makenzie Walter, Brand Marketing Manager

Here’s what led Makenzie to Simpli:
As a former news reporter, I’ve learned the best way to communicate is short, sweet and to the point. By chance (and luckily!) I came across this marketing position at Simpli and found that my communication style could help them in their goal to bring happiness, wellness and connection to workplaces everywhere. When I saw it was a women-owned, women-operated company I was ready to jump in right away!
How do you have fun working here?
I love collaborating with such smart, creative and passionate women every day. I think Simpli is such a unique company and the fact that it’s all women who work here allows us to communicate on a deeper level. I have fun chatting with the team every morning and learning more about their families, hobbies and ideas!
What is one positive word that describes the culture at Simpli?
Supportive. Every week we make an effort to call out not only our own wins but give “Simpli Snaps” to coworkers who are doing great things. I think we all work as a team to make sure projects are getting done and no one feels like they’re working on anything alone. It’s a very collaborative environment where everyone is genuinely happy to help others when they need it.
What motivates you to go above and beyond at work?
I know the culture at Simpli is one of strong, smart and supportive women and I want to live up to that. I always want to go above what’s expected and be an asset to the team. Each of my coworkers motivates me to be creative and innovative in every idea I bring to the table.
Other fun facts to know about Makenzie
What is your favorite travel destination?
ITALY! My husband and I went to Rome, Florence and Venice on our honeymoon and it was amazing. I have many places on my travel bucket list, but I would go back for some pasta and wine in a heartbeat!
Who inspires you?
Ruth Bader Ginsberg is my idol. I’m ashamed to say it took me until much later in life to learn about how amazing she is. Her passion for truth, justice and equality for all has impacted how I feel about the world. I now make it my mission to give young girls her book so they can start to learn about her legacy, sacrifices and brilliance early on and hopefully be inspired to do something great!
What is your favorite hobby?
Being outside. I love nothing more than enjoying a nice, sunny day. My husband and I recently bought a house and we made sure it had a deck so we could spend lots of time outside. If I could eat every meal out there I would do it! I also love taking my dog, Major, on walks and rolling our windows down when we drive to enjoy the breeze. My perfect weather is San Diego – 70 degrees and sunny every day. Yes, please!
